Long Beach Comic Con 2014: Sep.27 & 28 2014

TDE should have a table once again at the convention this year (not the expo on May 31/ June 01).  I will put in for TDE to have a table at the September show (like we did this past November 2013 and in 2012) soon.

I have the paperwork to submit for a table for the September show (not May, since we have two events in May already).

I will send in the paperwork for a table at LBCC in September within the next couple of days.

Paperwork has been sent off, and we are confirmed for a table at the September LBCC show.  

I can't get a banner on our website yet, because LBCC will change their website after their Expo show in May.  Afterwards, they should be listing The Dark Empire as exhibitors for the September show, and they will also have an HNAD banner on their site.  I'll then add their banner to our "upcoming conventions" on the front page of thedarkempire.org

Star Wars clubs have been invited to participate in STAR WARS Laser Tag at this convention, for charity. Here is a direct invite to TDE:


I'm Russell from Star Wars Laser Tag. We are at the Long Beach Comic Con every year and usually the Comic Expo there too.

We'd love for you and some of your people to come participate and help raise money for charity. It's really simple. Without Star Wars characters, it's just Laser Tag, so by your group (along with the Rebel Legion, 501st, Mandolorian Mercs, & Saber Guild) it becomes a really immerse environment for the kids to want to play and we collect $2 from the kids for playing.

I do keep a little of that to pay my 2 employees that hep me set everything up, but the majority of the money goes to the charities that the costume groups support, such as Holonet Audio Dramas.

I'm not looking for any solid commitment, but it would be great if you could let your SoCal Temple know. The more people we have playing from your group, the more money we can give you for the Audio Dramas or other charities.

Star Wars Laser Tag

They posted on our Facebook page and told them that we would be happy to help if they need us.

This event is next month.  We will have a table display.

I plan to attend, however, my time off from work is not secure yet.   I will at least be available in the mornings; I'll know in September if I will be available the entire time.

Please post below if you are available for table duty, and I will start a chart in the first post for folks committing to table duty.  Table duty shifts will be in the usual two hour increments.

The following is from Article I of the TDE Charter. I am hoping to have incentives soon to encourage full member to do table duty at conventions, such as an earned tag on their member page on the website, etc. That is currently being deliberated. In the meantime, please show your support for the club, anyway!



TABLE DUTY AT CONVENTIONS AND SIMILAR EVENTS
As outlined in Article III, subsection 3, part A of this Charter, an event such as a convention, in
which TDE has a table or other similar display, cannot be left unmanned during the operational
hours of the event. As such, Temples, Temple Spires, or other persons planning a convention or
other event in which TDE shall have a table, shall create a table duty roster in the forums where
the event planning is being conducted.
1. Table duty roster shall be in two-hour increments, and shall cover the entirety of the
operational hours of the event.
2. Members committing to table duty must arrive on time to represent The Dark Empire for
their scheduled two-hour shift. Proper notification and communication with a Jen'ari or other
leader or Official Member attending the event is required if a member cannot attend a scheduled
table-duty shift, as planned on the TDE forums, due to an unforeseen circumstance.
3. Table duty shifts, just like all memberships within The Dark Empire, are on a voluntary
basis. Representation of TDE at a table during a convention by a member is indicative of a
person's desire to serve TDE as a club.

This event is in two and a half weeks.  We need people to help out; I still can't guarantee that I will be able to be there in the afternoons (will know about a week before the event).   We have plenty of members in SoCal, please post below if you are attending, and which shift (see first post) you would like to help at the table. Table duty at conventions like this is open to forum members and full members alike.

I'm planning on only attending on Saturday,i'm also currently trying to secure a ride since i'm out here in Riverside,not sure at what time i would arrive at.

It all depends on what my work schedule is. I don't get my schedule till the week before. I will also have the munchkin this weekend, so I'm hoping to be able to attend with him but I'll have to find somone to keep an eye on him if I do table duty! I'll keep you posted

I've been given the weekend off from my evening job for this convention - something I wasn't sure would happen. So, I'll be free for table duty most of the time.

Notice I said "most" of the time! We're right across from the concession area... I'd like some free time to eat lunch, at least! (LOL)

You can count me in for table duty just not sure at one time I'm arriving.

Thanks, Mortis. This event comes with two comp passes. Since you and I were the first two to commit to going and table duty / I will see about those two going to us accordingly. See you there next week.

I am quite disappointed at the lack of stepping-up from other members. I do understand that real lives come first, but this is the only convention that the Coruscant Temple is doing at all in 2014, and it's been in the planning here on the forums for many months. That, combined with the fact that we have well over a dozen members in SoCal, we should really have a higher turnout.

I'm disappointed, but not deterred.

Table is all set up; hope to see as many as possible in the morning! Would love to do a group photo of some kind before Saturday winds down.

MISSION REPORT:

From The Brutal One, Lord Bruticus TDE-021

On 27 and 28 September 2014, The Brutal One, accompanied by Lord Mortis TDE-048 and other forum and official members of the Coruscant Temple of TDE, invaded Long Beach Comic Con, with a fan table that displayed various dark side artifacts, and educated galactic citizens at large as to the benefits of being subjugated by The Dark Empire.

Many photo-ops were had, new apprentices gained onto our forums, 83 HoloNet Audio Dramas audio discs were distributed to con-goers, and most of all, there was fun aplenty.
