Walk for Wishes

Apologies for this being last minute but this is another event we got invited to (a follow up to the Wall for Wishes kick off we were involved with about a month ago)

Walking season is around the corner, and here's the one for the kids.

The Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes is on again for this year. I have started up the Walk team for this event. This is a pretty free form event, and you don't even have to walk if you don't want to. This walk takes place around Tempe Marketplace, and there are Wish Kids stationed around walk cheering on all of the walkers and runners. So, we will have an area along the walk where you can cheer on, and take pictures with, the walkers and runners. Last year, a majority of us took pictures with one of the Wish Kids whose wish was "To Be a Jedi", while a few walked the route with the crowd. We also mingled and took pics with the crowd before and after the walk in the main plaza of Tempe Marketplace.

When: Sunday, Oct. 5, 7 am - 10 am

Team Registration:
NOTE: Registration with the team is not necessary to Walk or Cheer, although it is free.
If you would like to participate in raising money for the cause, please sign up under the 501st team. There is no fund-raising requirement for participation in the event, although you'll be amazed at what happens if you send out an email to your friends through the team website. Schedule for Event:
7:30 am - Check-in & Activities at District Plaza Stage (time for us to mingle and take pics with crowd)
9:00 am - 3k fun run/walk begins
9:00 am - 1 mile fun run/walk begins
10:15 am - Celebration Ceremony

Prop weapons: Approved.

Water: I will be bringing water for the crew in my monster Coleman cooler. I will also be bringing a table or 2, just for convenience, to be setup along the parade route.

Since this is an outdoor event, there is no changing room available. This is the standard change in the parking lot kind of operation.

Parking:
It is suggested that we park on the East side of the Marketplace, near Harkins Theaters. I still haven't received a clear answer on where we'll be stationed. They have only told me that we won't be able to get into the North side of the lot and we won't be in the same location as last year. So, it'll be an adventure on Sunday morning. I'll be bringing a rolling cart to transport table and cooler (and possibly anything else you might need) to the cheer location.

Mandos, Rebels, R2s, friends and family are all invited.

Added Bonus: I am going to make a few minor adjustments to my armor, so that I can do the 1-mile fun run. You want to see a running clone? This is your chance! How much more motivation do you need?
