The Dark Empire and the Fiesta Bowl Parade

The Twin Suns Spire was just invited to walk in the Fiesta Bowl parade and we want out of state TDE to attend (if possible)! For those of you unaware, the Fiesta Bowl is apart of the 5 major year-end college championship bowl games for college football so for us this is a big deal. This is the first time TDE will be in this parade and we were hoping that perhaps some of our neighboring TDE folks might be willing to join us! We normally go out for eating and hanging out will all of our trooping events so I suspect this won't be any different. Event: Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade

Date: Saturday, December 27, 2014

Time: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. All Parade participants must be at the Speciality Unit staging area by 9:45 a.m.

Location:

Staging: Bethany Home Road and Central Avenue (approximately)

Parking: Historically parking has been available at the VA Hospital at Indian School Road and 7th Street.

Event Description:

The Parade route traverses nearly two miles in historic downtown Phoenix. Map to be posted.

The Parade will feature a wide variety of brightly-colored floats, magnificent helium balloons, equestrian units, specialty groups, charitable organizations and local celebrities. This event will also showcase the participants and winners of various Fiesta Bowl events, including participants in the Fiesta Bowl Band Championship, winners of the Fiesta Bowl Twirl-Pom-Cheer & Flag Championship and the Fiesta Bowl Queen & Court.

Costumes:

Preference for "face characters" will be given to DSG members that have that approved character.

Man, I really want to troop this with y'all! I'm actually off on Fridays and Saturdays now, but my new job has me there at 6am on Sundays. If we can figure a way to make this work, I will try to attend; just can't guarantee it.

I'm pricing out air fare now. I'd do the drive, but I'm worried I might be too bushed from the long haul for work on Sunday morning. If I can afford it, would someone be able to pick me up at the Phoenix airport (or is there a closer airport), be willing to put me up Friday night, and then take me back to the airport Saturday evening? That might be the only way I can do this (getting my car worked on today, too - total cost of that might play a factor in all of this, too. LOL)

Depending on when you come in picking you up shouldn't be a problem. I'll check around and see what sort of crash space we can come up with but I'm sure we can find something
