Zipper question

Post by Divarin on Sun Dec 14, 2014 2:53 am

I have an old leather vest I with to use on my costume. It has a sizable zipper located in the front to allow the vest to be removed since it is designed to be form fitting. Must I hide the zipper or it it still writhing the specs for costume approval?

Hello my friend,

I think could be a better idea if you place your question in the Dark Side Costuming section:

http://the-dark-empire.forumotion.com/f26-dark-side-costuming

There are many people working on their projects and also official members and officers who can give you the help you need.

In my personal opinion could be a good idea hide the sipper Wink

My suggestion is to hide it. But make the hiding mechanism become part of the overall vibe. Maybe make it a layered, armor like section that you could snap on over the zipper or add in a double-breasted sort of panel (I did this for my old, custom Green Lantern corps costume and it turned out really cool). Either of these allows the zipper to function to keep the vest closed tight and still removes the zipper from sight.

Well that presents me with a few problems if I have to hide it. I intend to use metal plates on the vest, but place them in a way that allows me a good range of motion since in also going to want to do choreography and sparring in y his. To much armor, which would be needed to hide a full length zipper, would leave the costume just a show piece, if I make it funtional then I run into the problem of it obviously looking like im hiding something.  I want to make this work cause I dont have the cash to make several costumes.

So t hhhh at is my problem,  what  can o do to line up metal plates, mobility and hiding this dumb  full length zipper? (btw the vest in pictured in my avatar))
