Will there be any restrictions on lightsaber color? I ask only because I remember way back when it said we could ONLY use red, but there are canon examples of Sith who have used different colored blades. My own character, being one of the Jedi who turned and followed Revan, is actually supposed to wield a purple saber, and I was just curious about what, if any, restrictions might be put in place for color.

(Sort of a, if from this era only red vs this era can use other colors, that sort of thing.)

There are no restrictions on the color lightsaber blade a costumer within TDE may use. Although it is understood that most Sith Lords use red blades (as we like to synthesize our crystals, and they get cooked to that nice crimson color), we have to Chiss Sith that use blue blades. If you are a dark Jedi, then red will likely not be your color of choice.

The only restrictions on lightsabers in our Charter, are as follows:

Lightsabers: Only Force-FX lightsabers, or custom Luxeon or custom LED-modified hilts, or
metal or PVC hilts of similar type, or hollow hilts of similar type, with acryllic or polycarbonate
blades, or hilts of said types by themselves without blades are authorized lightsabers for
costume wear within The Dark Empire. Oversized plastic lightsaber toys are not permitted.

Indeed. The only restriction would be for Canon Sith Lords/Ladies. We would like to see the color Saber they use as the color choice of the costumer. Twisted Evil

In lue of your excellent question Lady Devatha, I will add this information to our costuming Library. Twisted Evil

Someone contacted our Sith'ari Lord Draconis concerning some spelling errors contained in our costuming library. Our library has become quite extensive and is a lot to comb threw at this point.

Please, if anyone see's something which is out dated or mis-spelled, or simply needs changed for what ever reason... let me know. Don't be shy, I will "not" become upset. I welcome the input.

We are striving for integrity for our group. Any noticed mistake is welcomed to be pointed out. I will correct it immediately.

I have some black leather dress shoes that I might be able to hide the laces with a couple nice leg wraps? Am planning leg wraps to keep the pants in check

You may wear a "non sneaker" style shoe, as long as they are completely covered. Beware of the style of stitching on the shoe, and any manufacturers emblems, etc, which may show. Fancy sitching, usually a Sith does not represent. Evil or Very Mad

An excellent cheap way of covering them and giving them the S.W. Universe look, is to purchase some wrapping, and do a Starkiller style wrap over the shoe, then continuing up the leg.

Very inexpensive and it works beautifully. Here is a link to our Starkiller thread in the Library. Scroll down for a close up example of the boot and wrappings:
http://the-dark-empire.forumotion.com/t1126-starkiller-eu-continuity-canon-sith-apprentice-from-the-force-unleashed-game-character-well-documented-custom-designing-not-permitted

And here is a link to one of our approved members who does this very thing for his custom costume.

He was told that he needed to wrap them heavier, however, this will give you an idea of what I'm referring to.

I hope this helps. Twisted Evil

I have a few quick costuming questions! firstly: i know that eyelets are not allowed on boots, but would they be allowed on other parts of a costume not for lacing anything, but for decoration/accents??

and second question... I am building a lightsaber hilt right now, but it will not have electronics/lights, or a blade. as long as it does not look like a toy will this be acceptable until i am able to afford a Ultra saber or FX saber??

In answer to your first question... we approve our custom costumes on case by case basis, so what is it that you have in mind with the eyelets? We do accept them on certain styles of corsets, etc... but never on boots.

So the answer is yes, eyelets are acceptable, depending on where they are and how they are being used and most importantly.. how they are going to look.

If you have a photo or sketch of your ideas, please send it to me in a pm or post it up here, and I can better answer that for you.

So far as your second question about your saber, they are not even required for "custom" costumes, however I strongly recommend one. To me, a Sith looks naked without "something".

If you do carry a Saber with a "Custom" costume, blades and electronics are not required. A nice prop is all you'll need.

For our Canon costumes, the proper Saber befitting the costume is the rule.

I hope that helps. Twisted Evil

I am currently building a set of various PVC practice sabers for an upcoming choreography project. If you go to TCSS, you can get the blade and guts for sabers relatively cheap. After that, it is just a matter of installing them, and there are a couple of very good tutorials on the site for that. You can make the entire thing for less than $60.

Lord Starfire, thank you for pointing me in that direction! it looks like for now i have to chose between electric components for a saber and going to wondercon, and i REALLY want to go to wondercon!
but i think once i get the funds i actually will use the electronics from TCSS and build a custom saber instead of buying a "ready made" one.

Lord Zannah, i will try and draw up a sketch in the next day or two to show you what im talking about.

ok, in regard to the eyelet question, i made a picture of what i would like to do.

the bottom black layer is the plain fabric obi, the grey is the same faux leather that is on my tabbards. it will act as a secon slightly thinner obi. then the two black bands are my two leather belts i would like to use (if the buckles are acceptable)

ok, so the blue lines are where i would like to attach belt loops to the outer layer of the obi, by using snaps(designated in bright green) then the red circles are where i would like to put eyelets, just plain silver ones, to add small accents and also to help keep the edges of the grey layer folded over as they are now... confusing enough? Razz
